Halloween

This year we headed over to Huntington Beach for some Halloween fun! We were lucky enough to meet up with Tinkerbell and Peter Pan! This was the first Halloween in which Addie really understood what was going on...she LOVED trick-or-treating. She is still asking to go trick-or-treating again. It was so cute to watch Addie with her cousins ring the doorbells multiple times, say "trick-or-treat," and yell "happy halloween" as they ran to the next house. I was shocked at how much candy they got and how much stamina they had for such young kiddos. What kids will do for candy! (If only that worked for potty training!) Addie was Sleeping "Booty" and Brynn was a duck. Addie is currently obsessed with princess everything and pink is her favorite color, so it was a no brainer that she was going to be a pink princess. What a fun night!

The night before Halloween we carved our pumpkins. I think the Grahams (us) take their pumpkin carving a little too seriously. Everyone else was done with their pumpkins long before we finished ours....

Any guesses on whose pumpkin is whose?

Our sweet little zebra...7 months exactly.

Charlie, June, and Addie all ready for some candy.

Trick or treating in action.

The buddies...Daddy and Addie. It's no secret, they are each others favorites. ;)

Checking out the stash!

Our sweet little duck and her squeaky friend Sophie. She slept through the entire night of trick-or-treating.

All Tongue

Yes, I know. I have TOTALLY been slacking on blogging this summer. I think between having 2 kids, having Dave gone, and just being really busy...the blog has taken a back seat. But, we're back (for now)! So, I decided to post something that will be really quick and hope that it jumpstarts my inner blogger.
A few weeks ago, we started our Brynn Leigh on some rice cereal. She was a total crack-up. For some reason, she thought she was supposed to lick the cereal off the spoon. This girl has always been kind of obsessed with her tongue, so it wasn't too surprising that she was trying to eat the ceral with her tongue. As far as the cereal goes, I still don't think she's completely sold on the idea. We'll see how baby food goes!

All set to go! Our happy girl!

This girl is obviously all tongue!

Tongue shot in action.

All done and still our happy girl. What a cutie!

A Special Day

Sunday was a triple whammy for us...Brynn's baby blessing, Riley's homecoming, and Father's Day! It was such a wonderful and special day. My brother, Riley, got home from his mission to the Philippines on Thursday. We are so thrilled to have him home. Addie was born just before he left on his mission, so he had never even met our Addie girl. My brother returned home to a whole new family...I have TWO kids, my brother is now married, and my sister is all grown up (driving and dating, oh my). We decided to wait to bless Brynn until my brother had his homecoming so he could be there.
David gave Brynn a beautiful blessing, and it made me so grateful for all the wonderful, worthy priesthood holders in my life especially my husband. Sunday really reiterated to me how much my Heavenly Father has blessed me. I could not be more grateful for my little family and our new addition of Brynn, for the safe return and amazing experiences that my brother had on his mission, for a loving and patient husband, for a wonderful dad, for an amazing father in-law who taught his children so much, and for a Heavenly Father who always knows what is best. Sunday was so special to me. Surrounded by all our family and friends, I truly feel like I got a little glimpse of heaven.

The two people of the day-my brother Riley and Brynn. Don't they look cute?

Our family of four. This is the best picture we got all day. Sad, I know.

One Month

Our sweet Brynn is already a month old. It amazes me how it feels like she has been a part of our family forever. Brynn is such a content, cuddle bug. She rarely ever cries and loves to cuddle up with everyone. We can't seem to get enough of her growing chubby cheeks and thighs. While she did look like a dark haired version of Addie after she was born, she has definitely started to develop her own look over the past month. We still don't know what to do with all her hair (although it is already thinning), so she usually ends up with a nice mohawk. Addie adores her little sister, and often stops what she is doing to give "baby diss (kiss)." We love our baby Brynn. While life with two kids can be crazy, we are trying to enjoy every moment.

Easter

For Easter this year, we headed up to Grandma Sue's house for some famiy fun. We had lots of fun playing in Grandma's front yard, patiently waiting for a turn on the new swing, and having Allison push us in the car. What a nice and fast big cousin! We loved spending time with the family. The kids had so much fun playing together. Addie and June were best buds. I think one of the cutest things was when June was reading to Addie before bedtime. Addie kept getting up to jump on the bed, and June had to tell her to sit down...so precious! We went on a fun Easter egg hunt and had a very special Easter bunny come visit! As you can see, Addie and June were NOT fans of the Easter bunny. However, the Easter bunny still brought them some goodies on Easter morning. With a little shopping, marble game, and reconnecting with both our families, it was a perfect weekend.

One Week Old

Brynn is already a week and a half! She has been such a joy in our home. Brynn wants to be held constantly including throughout the night, but she rarely ever cries! We are having so much fun with our sweet newborn. Unfortunately, we did have a few bumps in the road during our first week home. Not only had I completely forgotten about how long it really takes to start feeling normal again, but our Addie girl also got Roseola (with a fever up to 106) that lasted for 5 days! Talk about bummer! Poor girl was so sick. After two doctor's visits, lots of medicine, cuddling, and many Dora episodes, Addie made a full recovery. We are thrilled to have a healthy household again!

Baby Brynn

Brynn Leigh Graham came two weeks early! She weighed in at 8 lbs, 1 oz and 19 inches long...and has tons of dark hair! She has been a wonderful baby, and we are thrilled that she is already here! For those of you who enjoy reading the birth story, then continue on, and for those of you who are not at all interested in knowing a few details then move on to the pictures. :) I had been having mild to moderate contractions the weekend before Brynn's arrival. I felt like a time bomb...waiting for the true labor contractions to kick in any minute (since Addie was over two weeks early, I was CONVINCED that this baby was going to come early as well). Anyways, I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. He usually doesn't check dilation until 39 weeks, but since I had been contracting he decided to do an exam. I was 4 cm and 70% effaced. He told me that he thought that I would have the baby by the afternoon or the next day. He even offered to send me over to labor and delivery right then, but I didn't think my contractions were strong enough for labor, so I decided to go home. That afternoon, my dad (who was on OB call that day) asked if I was coming to the hospital because they had a room set aside for me. I told him that I wasn't in labor, but if my doctor would break my water that I would come into the hospital. My dad was doing a c-section with my OB right after we talked, and my doctor agreed to break my water. Dave and I were so excited! We packed our bags, said our goodbyes, and headed over to the hospital. We went through registration and got put into a room, and then the charge nurse came in and told us that she had talked my doctor out of breaking my water since I was only 38 weeks. Most hospitals now will not induce labor until 39 weeks, so she would not let him help me out! I was so upset! So, we ended up going home.

Our first trip to the hospital...thinking it was the end!
Anyways, my contractions started to kick in the next morning. When we got to the hospital, I was already 8 cm. Luckily, the anesthesiologist was a family friend, so he was able to give me an epidural in between two c-sections. Two hours later, Brynn Leigh Graham arrived! About five minutes later, Dave was eating his lunch...In-N-Out...I just had to throw that in...who loves In-N-Out that much that they ask if they can eat it right after their wife delivers?!? That's David for ya!

Our first picture as a family of four.

Addie's first time holding Brynn. Not quite sure about it!

A moment of cuddling between the girls.

Addie's "all done!"

Brynn's first bath. I wanted to have Addie help with the bath, but she was much more interested in brushing her little mullet. :)

Brynn has normal newborn feet. Addie has always had HUGE feet.

Love that face!

Piggy Tails

As most of you know, Addie has been pretty bald most of her life. We have had to use headbands since she was born. Well, I was finally able to get the little bit of hair she has now into piggy tails. Dave hates it...he says they're mullet pigtails (and he's kindof right, but I still can't resist!) Addie's almost two and this is the first time I actually got to do her hair! I was in love with those two little sprouts of hair sticking out. Funny story: I had an ultrasound around 30 weeks, and the ultrasound tech commented that this baby had quite a bit of hair for only being 30 weeks. I guess Addie better start growing some more hair or her sister may have more than her! For now, I will continue to love the piggy tails.

Beach Day

I finally got my camera, camera cord, and husband back! After spending a month in Northern California, Dave has finally joined us in Southern California. We are thrilled to have him home! It's been a crazy few months, but we are loving the warmer weather and being so close to family. We feel so incredibly blessed to have been able to move back to California so soon! Several things just seemed to fall into place, and we are back WAY before we ever thought possible. We had many great experiences in IL and met so many wonderful friends. We will miss them dearly! However, California has already been good to us. Addie has gotten to spend tons of time with our families. Last week, David had the morning off, and we met up with some cousins for a fun little play date at the beach. It was a little chilly, but it was fun to watch the kids run around and play. Charlie seemed to be quite content playing with the sand and water while June kept trying to feed the seagulls goldfish crackers, and Addie ate snacks on the blanket because she didn't like getting sand on her feet. Luckily, I was able to snap a few cute shots of the kids all together. Good times!

The three cousins all together. We couldn't get a picture of them all looking at the camera at the same time. I guess two out of three will do.

Uncle Dodo playing with the kids.

Love the expressions on Charlie and June's faces.

Just playing in the sand.

Cute Cousins! I love these two girls!

The Holidays

I can't believe we are almost half way through January! Where is the time going?!? I figured that I better get our holiday pictures up before any more time passes. After an eventful flight to California (including smoke in the cabin and a detour to St. Louis), we had a wonderful and relaxing Christmas break. There were a few trips to the beach, a neighborhood party, lots of walks, Christmas lights, and Christmas Eve at Gma and Gpa's house. Fun, fun, fun!!! Luckily, Santa didn't forget us in California. Santa brought Addie girl a new slide to keep at Nana and Papa's house since we will be living there soon. Since we haven't been to a park in Illinois in a while, Addie was completely in LOVE! Dave and I agree that watching Addie with her slide was our favorite part of Christmas. Kids make Christmas so much more fun. Unfortunately, I had to go back to Illinois early to work the New Years. Dave and Addie partied it up at my cousin's wedding and then at Grandma Graham's house to ring in the new year. Looks like it was a party with the cousins! Looking forward to 2011...moving to California and a baby sister are going to be highlights for sure!
